A few minutes drive or cycle from the house is Montagrier "beach", a beautiful riverside bathing and picnicking spot - even in the height of the tourist season you can find a quiet spot to sunbathe or snooze. There's also a real chance of spotting the blue flash of a kingfisher whilst wandering along the river bank towards Tocane-St-Apre.

For adults wanting a peaceful retreat without having to be energetic at all, it is equally possible to do very little at all - we have enjoyed both active family holidays and also quiet breaks on our own to the same extent. For those who enjoy walking, intricate and hidden footpaths zig-zag through chestnut woods and alongside river banks. Apart from the occasional small-holding, it's possible to walk for hours and see no one at all. Hill top walks give amazing views as far as the eye can see, and in Spring there are rare orchids to admire. For bird-watching enthusiasts we've seen kites, buzzards, hoopoes and king-fishers - we're sure you will see more!
