A working water mill 20 minutes walk from the house is interesting to visit for both adults and children - it incorporates a museum showing very clearly how Tocane got its first electricity supply. The local towns of Bourdeilles and Brantome are of traditional Dordogne stone, both with the gentle River Dronne running through them adding to their beauty. There are numerous extremely good family-run restaurants here as well as in nearby villages, the local beef is definitely to be tried! The area is very rich historically, with caves to visit, some showing pre-historic paintings on the walls, some with incredible stalagmites and stalactites. As well as in Bourdeilles and Brantome, there are chateaux all around the local area to visit, too many to mention.
